TSOMOV on "Terma":

'E PUR SI MUOVE' (And yet it moves): left over from 'Tunguska'...

Marita: 'I can help you, Agent Mulder.'
Mulder: 'Find my cell phone?'
Marita: 'Isn't that it in your pants... or are you just glad to see me?'

SPECIAL K: what exactly is wrong when Dr. K assists Auntie Janet end her suffering? She's dead, so what's he complaining about?...

THE COW'S GONE ALREADY, FORGET THE BARN: why is Dr. Sacks still in his biohazard suit? Whatever happened to him, happened while he was in his suit so keeping him in it isn't doing any good...

YOU SHOULD SEE ME AROUND SWISS CHEESE: I can take watching the Operation Channel on cable but things with regular, repetitive patterns like the 'oil'lien nest inside Dr. Sacks makes my skin crawl and hair stand on end...

'I FORGOT' - STEVE MARTIN: if Skinner is so concerned about committing perjury, why does he go around destroying his 'plausible deniability' by insisting on answers from Scully?...

'I SEE NOTHING!' - SGT. SCHULTZ: apparently the Krasnoyarsk gulag is run by Col. Klink -- how do they keep anyone from escaping? Mulder even takes the time to roll up the truck window to avoid the rain during his escape ... The camp reminds me of the Get Smart episode in which Kaos and Control kidnap each others agents...

WELL, HE IS A RAT, NOT A CAT: why wouldn't Krycek drop off the back of the truck so that he could land on his feet and tuck and roll? Instead he slides off horizontally and lands on his side...

IT WAS THE ONE-ARMED MAN -- REALLY!: !: 'Listen up, ladies and gentlemen. Our fugitive has been on the run for 90 minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is four miles per hour; that gives us a radius of six miles. What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him.'
Enough said.

AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS HIS DAUGHTER: so it is Dr. Bonita Charne-Sayre that Cancerman spots in Charlottesville when he does his double take in 'Tunguska'...

WHERE IS THE SCENE WITH SCULLY WRESTLING THE MEAN PRISON MATRON IN THE SHOWERS?: wonder if whoever brought Scully her reading material (Pendrell?) also brought her a carton of smokes -- I hear they're like gold in prison ...

YOU'RE NOT LOSING AN ARM, YOU'RE GAINING AN EAR: while Krycek won't be needing (one of) the nice gloves he was wearing when he 'escaped', he can be consoled that doctors can graft ears onto the backs of mice now... By the way, wouldn't a red hot blade stick to the flesh while cutting?...

C-SPAN MUST BE BETTER THAN THIS: what's with the bad subcommittee scenes? First, Mulder's melodramatic entrance -- I was expecting him to be carrying bags of mail addressed to Santa Claus (ref. Miracle on 34th St.)... Then Scully's statement that there was an 'accident' with Dr. Sacks -- what 'accident'? One of the light bulbs burning out his retinas go out?... And finally, Mulder's outburst -- it leaves me speechless it was so lame... At least we didn't get to see Skinner do his 'Mr. Smith Goes to Washington' impersonation...

O.P.E.C. MUST BE LOVING THIS: so where do the 'oil'liens go after they leave a deceased host? Apparently someplace that prevents Mulder and Scully from collecting even one from Auntie Janet, Dr. Sacks, or a ward full of dead people -- a ward that seems to have a lot more room between the beds when Vassily 'The Grim Reaper' Peskow makes his rounds than when Auntie Janet goes for a ride...

LIKE BRINGING COAL TO NEWCASTLE: : I think a Customs official would be a little suspicious of a truck full of fertilizer coming into Alberta from North Dakota -- like there's no fertilizer in Alberta?... And a Ride-Rite truck at that, the truck of choice of weak-ass militia guys who actually give info to government agents 'off the record'... And apparently there's something special about Alberta that makes it more suitable for burying rocks than North Dakota... (a slight clarification -- North Dakota and Alberta don't share a common border... That means Peskow has to drive an absolute minimum of over 250 miles through Montana before crossing the border in Alberta when he could just have thrown the rock into the Missouri River instead... As for 'getting the rock off American soil,' what a crock!... If the U.S. asked for the rock, we (Canadians) would give it to them...).

THESE AREN'T THE DROIDS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR: Vassily Peskow must be some sort of Jedi knight the way he can avoid security at Charlottesville, NASA Goddard, Boca Raton and the Alberta oil refinery...

ANOTHER MOVIE MEMORY: at least Joubert (Max Von Sydow) gives Turner (Robert Redford) a ride back to the city after he has fulfilled his contract in 'Three Days of the Condor', Peskow leaves Scully on her own in the refinery (what happened to the helicopter pilot?)...

CAN THEY HEAR DOG WHISTLES?: apparently Mulder and Scully have exceptional hearing -- instead of asking her to check the refinery while they both have on headsets in the helicopter, he waits until he takes his off and gets out... Then Mulder can hear a mysterious warning beeping that can't possibly be coming from the bomb -- why would the bomb be beeping?

TSOMOV on "Paper Hearts":

AT LEAST HE DOESN'T HAVE TO TURN IT: doesn't Mulder have a proper bed or even a lousy futon? Does he have to sleep on the couch?...

DOESN'T HE SEE THE STICK?: Mulder follows the red laser spot like a donkey follows a carrot on a stick... I would be more interested in who and where the laser is coming from... also, most people I know wouldn't be able to resist putting a hand into the beam, of course, if it's a laser rifle scope you'll regret it...

AT LEAST HE DOESN'T REFER TO HIMSELF AS 'MULDER': wonder if Mulder actually sees himself in his dreams or does he dream in the first person... Same question regarding past-life, hypno-regression therapy bull ("The Field Where I Died")... By the way, how does he recognize people from his current life if they don't look the same in previous lives? ...

WHO YA GONNA CALL?: what kind of park has a listing in the phone book? What do people call to ask -- 'when do you close?'...

FRESH BRAINS!: maybe Addie Sparks rises at night to feed on the living -- for a grave at least 20 years old, the dirt looks amazingly freshly turned...

PROBABLY PAID $500 FOR A TOILET SEAT, TOO: why would Mulder hit the department budget for the expense of a forensic excavation team if he is just going to jump in there and dig around with his hands?... And since no one ever makes it to trial anymore on The X-Files, I guess it doesn't matter about the poor evidence handling procedures -- Mulder puts heart number 16 in his desk drawer, not in the case file...

MUST HAVE JUST RAINED: when Mulder and Scully go to see Mr. Sparks, their car is incredibly clean! The windows are absolutely brilliant...

HOW DOES HE CHANGE SPARK PLUGS? WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER?: nothing Mulder could have done to the El Camino would have been too much -- it is a butt ugly car...

NEXT ON CNN, 'STYLE' WITH JOHN LEE ROCHE: Tom Noonan is spectacular as John Lee Roche, another Emmy perhaps? Have to admire/cringe at his sense of 'style' -- first, admitting to the 'magical' 13 murders; then, the white El Camino; and finally, seeing his 1973 sideburns and 'comb-over' ... And the Electrovac Princess looks more like a Russian satellite than a vacuum cleaner -- what were people thinking in 1973?...

WHERE'S THE WEBSITE FOR THOSE WITH A PARALYZING FEAR OF MODERN COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY?: if, as Scully says, 'You can find out practically anything' on the Internet, maybe someone can figure out why Pauly Shore keeps making movies ...

NEXT THING YOU KNOW, CHRIS CARTER WILL BE INVADING POLAND: post-'Wetwired', I suggested it may turn out that Samantha is dead, that Fox feels somehow responsible and the alien abduction story is his way of dealing with the situation, and EVERYONE knows but are humouring him... It was the most extreme example of 'cheating'... (I consider the 'Wetwired' colourblindness to be the 'thin edge of the wedge', but enough of that)...

HAVE TO INVITE MULDER TO A POKER NIGHT: a little redemption for David Duchovny's "The Field Where I Died" emoting -- when Roche asks him, 'That one, are you sure you want that one?' Mulder's face tells you he thinks he may have made a mistake in choosing Samantha's heart... And what is with the head twitching by Gillian Anderson?...

WHO MAKES THEIR LINENS -- BILLY BARTY?: either that is the largest 10-year-old girl skeleton in history, or the sheets in the morgue are too short -- they don't appear to be long enough to cover the top of the skull...

WHAT'S THE FINE FOR OVERDUES?: apparently FBI agents can sign serial child killers out of federal prison as easily as taking out a library book...

WAS THE MOVIE ON THE FLIGHT 'PLAYING GOD'?: sure, it's not as though they can get off the plane, but the flight attendants could be a little more courteous to the passengers -- they actually have to turn the drink cart on an angle to block the aisle, allowing Roche to talk to Caitlyn...

YOU SHOULD SEE WHAT'S LIVING IN THE FRIDGE NOW: while no one is living in the house in West Tisbury, the living room lamp is on a timer -- which is why it's on when Roche enters the room -- but why is the lamp also under plastic? Isn't that a potential fire hazard?...

MAYBE HE WAS CALLING THE PSYCHIC FRIENDS NETWORK: after the airline rep tells Mulder that Agent Mulder called 10 minutes ago for the same info, he puts down the phone and goes... where? He hasn't gotten the information yet, he just knows that Roche does have it...

DARE THEM TO TRY THAT AT THE LOCAL RAMADA: after kicking in Roche's door and not finding him, Skinner has them kick in the other doors -- that had better be an abandoned building because it isn't a single residence building ...

WHEN 'GREEN ACRES' ENDED, THEY ATE ARNOLD ZIFFEL: I've seen airplane graveyards before but this is my first trolley bus graveyard -- it's not the same...

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE THE CLASSICS: it's been a while since I've seen a nice, clean, shot-in-the-mouth killing... It's like a breath of fresh air -- I've obviously become desensitized to the violence ...

TSOMOV on "El Mundo Gira":

WHERE IS ALBERT BROOKS WHEN YOU NEED HIM: the old woman is REALLY annoying, and not Debbie Reynolds' 'Mother'-annoying either... Why does she keep switching between English and Spanish for no apparent reason?... Too bad she isn't knocked out of the episode when she walks into the police car door as she goes to see the dead goats...

IT'S A MIGRANT 'WORKERS' CAMP: how does Eladio expect to earn his $4 a day when he doesn't go to work like all the other men in the camp -- he's the only one who doesn't scramble into the back of the truck when it comes to get workers...

THOSE AREN'T GOATS, THEY'RE GREYHOUNDS: I'm surprised the goats are able to get away from Maria, she is incredibly fast -- she is standing next to Eladio in one shot then in the next she is at the other end of the gate several feet away...

THEY MUST HAVE USED THE BACK DOOR: why didn't the migrants run off when Mulder and Scully first arrived at the camp? They couldn't have known the 'suits' weren't I.N.S. then...

MAYBE THEY COULD GET WORK SHOVELING SNOW: it must have been pretty cold in the 'San Joaquin Valley' during the filming -- Mulder and Scully's breaths can be clearly seen when they are addressing the workers...

MEXICAN KILLER BEES: the names the 'illegals' gave the I.N.S. are pretty funny... Wouldn't have been surprised to see the Hispanic guy in a bee suit from 'The Simpsons' or John Belushi's killer bee from SNL show up during the episode...

IF YOU PICK AT IT, IT'LL NEVER HEAL: major gross-out! The bus driver's flesh is all flaky and the construction foreman has something growing out of his mouth! yuck!!!...

DANA 'MAX HEADROOM' SCULLY: Scully does another head twitch in this episode, but this time it is because of a technical boo-boo -- after Scully sees a demonstration of the power of the enzyme at the mycology lab, several frames are repeated immediately before the edit...

I DIDN'T KNOW PLASTIC WAS A FUNGUS: while working on the construction site, Eladio picks up some wooden pieces but when he drops them into the dumpster a sheet of plastic has suddenly 'grown' into the building material...

THE COOTIES: if the enzyme is spread by touch, how come there isn't a growth on the screen door of Gabrielle's housekeeping job where Eladio bangs on it? Why aren't the detention centre guards who handled Eladio dead? Why aren't there more victims like the market employee who dies after picking up some contaminated food? Why is there a growth on Agent Lazano's body even though Eladio never touched him?...

PROBABLY HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCES TO ANNOUNCE UPCOMING RAIDS, TOO: why does Mulder call out to Eladio at the truck stop? And how does Mulder intend to apprehend Eladio without touching him?...

IT'S A GIANT ROACH MOTEL: why does the La Ranchera Market door have a 'Push' sticker when you need to 'Pull' to exit?... And it should be furry from Eladio's touch by the time Mulder and Scully get there...

MY KINGDOM FOR A SNEEZE GUARD: the market's bulk food display should have been shut down by the health dept. if it was so full of bacteria that in a matter of minutes it goes completely furry...

THE THIRD MAN: try to follow this...
Scully: 'Then where is he going?'
Mulder: 'The same place Agent Lazano and Eladio's brother are going... (then badly
dubbed) he's gone to face his brother.'
Who is this third brother both Eladio and Soledad are going to face?...

HER COUSIN'S BROTHER?: maybe it's a cultural thing or a bad subtitling job, but why does the worker ask Gabrielle, 'Have you seen him... your cousin?', when Eladio and Soledad are both cousins...

IT'S BECAUSE I HAVE A CABBAGE FOR A HEAD, ISN'T IT?: why don't Eladio and Soledad take the Barber's car instead of hitch- hiking back to Mexico?... Actually, their heads look like Darkness's in the Tom Cruise movie, 'Legend'...

TSOMOV on "Leonard Betts":

ARE THEY STOPPING FOR DOUGHNUTS?: ETA of the ambulance is 12 minutes?!!! I can drive from my house to a few area hospitals in that time while stopping for red lights and (almost ) keeping to the speed limit...

RAMPART, THIS IS RESCUE 51 (I loved 'Emergency'): Michelle Wilkes sure isn't Paramedic John Gage or Roy DeSoto -- it's an emergency run and she takes her eyes off the road as she approaches an intersection... Later, instead of helping her new partner with a patient, she's distracted by a radio call...

DAMN YOU CONRAD HALL: why does every new Director of Photography (i.e. Joel Ransom) use lens flare? Hopefully, John Bartley's 2nd Unit work is a prelude to his returning full-time or at least for the movie...

JUST WAITING FOR GALLAGHER TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE: while the decapitated head is pretty neat, I still think the shattered, frozen head from the Roland episode is cooler...

THE SECOND COMING OF EUGENE TOOMS?: Leonard Betts must have a pretty limber body to be able to turn around inside the morgue freezer...

THE HEADLESS EMS-MAN: I'm assuming both the head and body are still 'alive' and the reason the head doesn't grow another body is it doesn't get an iodine bath... But why not take the head? Like a headless body would draw THAT much more attention if it is carrying a head... And how does the headless body make it home from the morgue without anyone noticing? Or home at all? It can't see, hear, smell or THINK -- just because it can regenerate a head doesn't mean it has the use of one when it is detached... And Scully doesn't do much of an Ichabod Crane-impersonation trying to shoot down Mulder's outlandish theories...

IMAGINE THE SMELL: Mulder's schoolboy squeamishness about the hospital body parts bin is so amusing... But what is all that gelatinous stuff?...

AMERICA, THE LAST VESTIGE OF IMPERIALISM: quick, how many ounces in 0.9 lb.? I thought Scully would be using the Metric system to measure the mass of Leonard's head, as opposed to the Imperial system for the weight...

BETTER THAN MR. POTATOHEAD: hmmm, no signs of rigor mortis, fixed lividity, etc., in Leonard's head? Maybe Scully should smell it like Owen Jarvis' body in Revelations... If the head moved while I was examining it, I would be poking it with a stick and putting things in its mouth like it was a Venus Flytrap ...

HE DIDN'T EVEN TURN BLUE: Leonard has pretty good breath control -- submerged 3 minutes without a bubble in the iodine bath...

THE ONLY THING SHE SHOULD BE DRIVING IS GOLF BALLS: sure the truck tries to beat the red light (it is his traffic light we see before the crash), but Michelle is also to blame for the accident that kills the cardiac patient and, apparently, Leonard -- just because you have the right-of-way doesn't mean you'll get it... there is no way she should be back driving an ambulance so soon, if ever...

ANSEL ADAMS LIVES!: I can't believe they show slices of Leonard's head -- pretty cool!!! And when photogeek Dr. Charles Burks handles a slice, you can see the floppiness -- way!!! ... Okay, so Scully isn't a geography major -- Dr. Burks' lab is in College Park, Md., not Pittsburgh...

WRIST-HOLD TRAPS SHOULD BE OUTLAWED: Leonard must have an incredible pain threshold -- he doesn't scream when he tears off his thumb to escape the handcuffs... By the way, doesn't iodine sting?...

MAYBE HE COULD GIVE LOREENA BOBBIT A CALL: Leonard is apparently a good guy, e.g. he's an EMT, he uses cancerous medical waste instead of taking more victims and he's polite, so why does he kill Michelle? So what if his secret got out? What would they do to him? Cut him up and do experiments on him? Big deal!!! They're doing that now...

SO WHERE'S DR. BLOCKHEAD AND THE CONUNDRUM?: now we know what Lanny's twin, Lenny, got up to!!! When Leonard generates another body in the storage locker it reminds me of an Arnie film (Total Recall?)... And how did Leonard #2 drive out of the locker without running over his latest victim's body?...

DOES BUSTER BROWN WORK FOR TEN THIRTEEN?: I hope it isn't just me but I'm looking forward to seeing Gillian/Dana's feet/shoes each week -- we get a good shot when she's checking out the top of the ambulance for Leonard... Maybe it's a production joke about her 'tiny feet'...

CLEAR!: Leonard is in direct contact with Scully when she defibrillates him, wouldn't she get a jolt, too?...

PITTSBURGH, HOME OF PENGUINS: the cars at the hospital all have frost on the roof and visible exhaust like they were just started in the cold weather...
